Taking Action on Your Health
This post is a little different from the posts I normally write so I hope you’ll bare with me. Besides trying to provide as much value to you my readers as I possibly can I’m also using the blog to get myself to take action. One of the reasons for launching the Case 2008 projects was that I knew that if I told everybody about it then I would be more likely to take action and actually do what I said it would.

I know that I’m not the only one using their blog for this purpose so I thought that I would now write about a subject that I’ve had a hard time taking action on and that is the importance of keeping healthy. We all know that is takes a healthy body and a strong and well trained mind to be able to run a successful business (I know you can find examples of rich fat people).
To stay healthy some of the vital ingredients are eating right and exercising. If you don’t provide your body with the right about of nutrients it will eventually develop some inefficiencies and you’ll be more likely to become ill (may even be a terminal disease).
Secondly your body needs exercise on a daily level and being in the internet marketing business where often more than 14 hours a day are spent in front of a computer it becomes even more important. The human body was not designed to just sit and type on a keyboard.
So why am I struggling? First and foremost I’m not that much into vegetables and fruit. I like meat, carbohydrates and sweets (not to forget foreign imported beers *lol*) but however you twist and turn it that will never make up a healthy diet.
My choice (for the last 4 years) has been to add a nutritional supplement to my diet (several times a day). This helps me get all the nutrients that my body needs (I’ve never EVER gotten that many nutrients in my life) and I have to tell you that I feel incredible. For people that say that “they’re not into supplements” I just wish the Good Luck. It is fortunate for me that the high soy protein intake in the supplement will also keep me feeling full and have me stay away from sweets and other unhealthy habits (most of the time).
But then there is the part called exercise. You can’t build muscles without moving them and unless you have some electronic device or are into visual motor rehearsal (that is a topic for another post) you need to exercise. Some experts state that you should do a minimum of 30 minutes a day and this is where my problem is… I simply do not do it.
I’m not talking about walking up the stairs or going to the printer but genuine exercise where your heartbeat in high and you’re sweating all over. The fun part is that on the rare occasions where I actually get out the door and go for a run I end up feeling incredible. The hard part is getting out the door.
Lately I’ve been trying to trick myself into believing that I could just do a few pushups and a few crunches on the floor at home and that would do it (takes about 5 minutes) but deep down I know that it isn’t enough to help me keep fit and energized.
The weather is getting colder and as we get closer to wintertime it’s also getting darker. This doesn’t make it easier for me to get out the door and actually do something. From what I’ve read it’ll take a few months of consistent exercise to make it into a habit and since habits are harder to break this should make you stick to the exercise in the long term. But so far I’ve yet to make it through those initial months.
I know that I’m not the only one struggling with this (actually most people aren’t getting the proper nutrition either which makes it even worse) so if you’re one of them I would really like to hear from you in the comments.
If you’ve tackled the obstacles of getting proper nutrition and getting into an exercise habit I would also really like to hear what you have done (and I’m sure that everyone else would as well). You can add your advice in the comments as well.
Thanks,
Mikael
Hello Mikael,
what kind of supplement have you been using? only Protein? or is it some kind of mix?
Just to comment on your blog.. You are all to right, the hardest thing is getting out the door, I have the same problem which is why I decided to aim for 3 runs a week in the beginning.
It is great inspiration to read that I am not the only one struggling.
Best regards
Brian
Hi Brian, first of all thank you for commenting. I was beginning to think that I wa the only one not exercising.
As for the supplements I’m taking it is a optimal mix of the things the human body needs. Protein alone is not enough but a vital factor for building bodymass and thereby increasing the rate at which one burns calories (and fat).
Hi Mikael
Being healthy and fit is definately a good way of providing yourself with lots extra energy, and it is said to improve your mental capacites, too. I have lost 15 kg with Herbalife as my nutrition supplements, and have created a whole new lifestyle that I never wish to change. I’m not here to promote Herbalife, it’s just part of my story …. Anyways, losing weight made me want to try to exercise too. Now, exercise is part of my daily routine, and I feel so empowered and ready to tackle challenges after a workout. Don’t do a lot …. 25 sit-ups, and 20 push-ups, and about a 15-20 min jog a day, but it sure makes a difference ! I also love bicycling. Before, I was out of breath trying to do a few flight of stairs …. and in the beginning, I started out with a lot fewer reps. Ok ! The main thing is to get started ! You need to find a way of exercising that you like. When it’s fun, it’s so much easier to keep it up …. and to motivate yourself even when the going gets tough. An old ad campaign from Tag Heuer watches has really stuck to my mind : “Success is a mind game”. If you put your mind to it, and decide to commit youself to do something, you will be successful. Like the ants, never giving up ! If you want to, I’d be happy to stand by you to try to give you the motivation and encouragement you need to get going !
Best regards

In my opinion more people need to become aware of the effects of drug addiction and alcohol addiction. It is becoming a much more widespread thing. I think that people should promote a healthy active drug and alcohol free lifestyle.
